How do Assist, Managed and shadow mode differ?
HelpAssist writes a draft for you to send, Managed replies to customers automatically, and shadow mode writes replies without sending them. Choose Off, Assist or Managed in the AI Pilot setting above the message box. Shadow mode is a checkbox in Managed settings, next to that switch, or in AI Pilot settings in Console; on Free, choosing Managed offers Turn on shadow mode instead.
Assist: in a private chat, click Draft a reply, check and edit the draft, then send it yourself. Available on every plan.
Managed: AI Pilot replies in private chats on its own and hands the chat to a person when it cannot answer. It works only while WhatsApp Web is open and the extension is online. Requires Pro or Team.
Shadow mode: the AI writes replies as usual but sends none, so you can compare them with what a person answers. It still processes chat data and uses your AI Pilot allowance. On Free, shadow mode is available instead of automatic replies.
Turning on Managed
- Check the persona, knowledge base and reply limits in Console, and try them in Preview.
- In Console, open AI Pilot settings and turn on My managed mode switch.
- In WhatsApp Web, choose Managed in the AI Pilot setting.
To take over a chat, use Pause AI. Automatic replies stay paused until you choose Resume AI.
What is sent
In Assist or Managed, the chat’s latest messages (up to 30) and up to 3 recent images or voice messages are sent through WAWin to the AI service to write a reply.
