How do I set up translation?

Choose a reading language for received messages, and a sending language for each chat, in Translation settings in the WAWin menu.

Received messages

  1. Open the WAWin menu and choose Translation settings.
  2. Under Received messages, choose a language in Read in. This applies to all chats in this browser.
  3. Turn on Auto translation to translate eligible received messages automatically. With it off, click the translate icon on a single message.

Sent messages

The sending language applies only to the current chat and is remembered for that WhatsApp account and chat. Auto-detect uses recent received messages; if no language is detected, your message is sent as written. You can review and edit the translation before sending, or choose Send original to send without translating.

What is sent and saved

Only the text being translated is sent, through WAWin to the translation provider, even when chat sync is off. Translations are saved in the workspace for reuse, including those from chats that are not synced. Free includes 20,000 translation characters a month.
